What She's Up to Now. 19 Months Old.

She has curls all over her head that are so big that when the sun hits them, they actually glow.

She insists on getting into bed with me every morning when she gets up and laying very still, tummy to tummy, with her head on my chest and her arms around me.

She loves to dance. And sing. And we must hold hands while we dance and sing things like "Ring Around the Rosies", and the theme song from Veggie Tales.

She's adding to her vocabulary by leaps and bounds. Things like:

  1. "Bed-y"(Belly)
  2. "Bed-y-but-on" (Belly-button)
  3. "Di-pee" (Diaper)
  4.  "Shew-wee" (to let you know when said 'di-pee' needs to be changed)
  5.  "Deuce" (Juice)
  6.  "Wee-am" (William)
  7.  "Brud-ers" (Brothers)
  8.  "Ow-eeee!!!" (Ouch)
  9.  "Bunny" (Short for 'Snuggle Bunny')

Any blanket invites the games "Hide" (pretty self-explanatory) and "Cold" (where we must cover up and cuddle).

She can give an 'Evil-Eye' look on demand--usually prompted by saying, "Tell him about it, Carlyn!"

She loves books. LOVES books. She would let you read to her all day long. The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry and The Big Hungry Bear is our favorite. (I'm kinda partial to That's Not My Monkey, but she just isn't feeling the love for that one).

She loves Veggie Tales, Leap Frog and Your Baby Can Read Videos.

She tries to sing and do the motions to "Head and Shoulders, Knees and Toes" along with the Your Baby Can Read Video. This, we recorded on video because no words would do it justice. Precious.

She has discovered the word "No!" and tests it daily to see if it really is as powerful as it feels.

When you say, "Carlyn!", she'll answer with a quick, sharp, "What?!"....and if you say it quietly, she'll whisper, "What?" back to you. She'll sometimes answer when you call her Ni Hao Car-Lyn. (Too much Nick, Jr. for us, apparently).

Most any question can be answered with a shoulder shrug, arms out to the side, palms up, and an "I don't know."

What a great age.
