Madelyn and Carlyn The Red-Nosed Preschoolers

The girls woke up to this note this morning:

Mr. Seriouspants didn't manage to squelch all of the elf shenanigans just yet. Bernard had apparently been consulting with Papaw concerning using preschoolers as marker boards, and decided he'd give it a shot himself. He was quite creative in choosing a nice festive Christmas Red as opposed to Papaw's Smurf color choice, and he did manage to execute said shenanigans on two sleeping preschoolers. Quite impressive. Madelyn refused to look in the mirror for a while, but when Carlyn got up and she saw what he had done to her nose, it must have bolstered her courage just enough to join her sister on the trek to the bathroom mirror. It worked out for the best, though, because they got to see their rosy reflections for the first time at exactly the same time. They were quite giggly while trying to figure out how in the world that crazy elf managed to paint their noses last night.

I soooo wanted a pic of them together showing off Bernard's artwork, but Carlyn wasn't really in the mood for pictures this morning, so this snap will have to do.

Carlyn's like: Seriously mom, get a life and let me get back to my cup.

And so she did.

Madelyn was a bit more animated in showing off Bernard's handiwork.

I did manage to snag this little beaut as Miss No Picture Pants was walking off. 

Bernard has one more night here before he heads back home to the North Pole for his final report to Santa , and then he'll report back to duty here after Thanksgiving next year. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if Seriouspants or Shenanigans wins the battle for the poor elf on his final night in SC before he goes back to visit The Big SC.
